PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

You want to love your car, not neglect it. Car parts are made to last a long time, but not forever. Failing to maintain your car or ignoring simple maintenance can lead to major damages.

NO ONE LIKES HAIRY LEGS

This is what happens when you don’t change your oil and oil filter. When you think of engine oil, remember shaving cream. When you shave your legs, shaving cream is used to ensure the razor goes smoothly over your skin. Engine oil is used to flow between moving metal parts in your car. When you don’t change your oil, oil thickens and becomes a clumpy substance known as “sludge”. If this happens, you will probably have to say bye bye to the shopping mall, and hello to a down payment for a new car.

HELP ME BREATHE

The air filter is the nose of your car. This is how the car breathes. If it is dirty, your car can’t breath. To check your air filter, hold it to the light. If you can see light, your car is breathing. This car had a very stuffy nose.

BIGGER IS BETTER

Brake pads are used to help stop your car. New brake pads are 10 - 12 mm thick. When your brake pads reach 3 mm and below, you should change them. Failing to change your worn brake pads can cause damage to your rotors and caliper, causing you to spend more money on car repairs.

NAILS TO A CHALKBOARD

Brake rotors rotate with tire, the brake pads squeeze the rotors to help stop the car. When the brake pads become severely worn down to barely no pads, the brake wear indicator will start to scratch the rotors.

These are called grooves. Grooves are caused when the brake wear indicator scratches the rotor. Grooves can cause your car to vibrate.

These are metal shavings from the rotor. By failing to change brake pads when it reaches the wear indicator, the wear indicator will start to scratch off metal from your rotors.

ICKY, STINKY, FIX A FLAT

If you ever heard of "fix a flat", DO NOT USE IT! This over the counter remedy will not save you money.

This is what Fix A Flat looks like in a tire. Since it is a liquid, your tire could possibly vibrate. Also, this substance is messy and stink making it difficult for people that will be working on your tire.

Fix A Flat could also potentially ruin your TPMS sensor (tire pressure monitoring system sensor). If this sensor gets ruined, you will have to replace it, or your TPMS light will stay on in your car, and you will not know if your tire pressure is low.
